Kate Murphy, Kim, and I drove from Chicago to Detroit on an ElimiDATE trip to check this one off the list. This was my first and only visit to Detroit, so I didn’t really get a great feel for the city. We did pass old Tiger Stadium on the way to the new park, which looked like it was worth a
stop - but we didn’t have time. We parked in a bit of a sketchy area and headed to the park, only to find out that there
was an hour time change from Chicago to Detroit. We missed the first few innings, but nevertheless, we enjoyed the game.
The park has a (dare I say) breathtaking view of Downtown Detroit. I liked the food court built inside the stadium and the green seats. Built into and around the stadium are gothic-looking Tiger statues, which are a little odd, but unique. Although the stadium is fairly new, our seats had some s
tale water on the ground and smelled a little funky. Just an anomaly, I’m sure. But this was right after the stadium had hosted the All-Star Game. A little disappointing.
